About Erin H. Amerson, MD
Dr. Erin Amerson is a dermatologist who focuses on caring for adults with conditions that include moles and skin cancer, eczema, psoriasis, autoimmune skin diseases and skin infections. She is the medical director of dermatology at Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital and Trauma Center, where she teaches residents and medical students in both clinic and hospital settings. Amerson is involved in advancing care for patients with HIV-associated skin diseases in sub-Saharan Africa. She also has ongoing domestic research projects investigating hepatitis C–associated skin disease, teledermatology and equitable access to dermatologic care. She is a founding member of GloDerm International Alliance for Global Health Dermatology, an organization of dermatologists whose focus is improving skin health throughout the world. A Wisconsin native, Amerson earned her medical degree at the Medical College of Wisconsin. She completed a residency in dermatology at the University of Minnesota. She then completed a yearlong fellowship on HIV dermatology, working at both UCSF and Mbarara Regional Referral Hospital in Uganda. She is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Amerson lives in Oakland with her husband, two children and dog, Stella.
