About Emily Spataro, MD
Dr. Spataro is a native of St. Louis and attended high school at Cor Jesu Academy. She then completed her undergraduate degree in biomedical engineering at Duke University with honors of graduation with distinction for her academic and research accomplishments. She then completed medical school at Washington University School of Medicine, where she also completed her otolaryngology—head and neck surgery residency training. Dr. Spataro then went on to complete a facial plastic and reconstructive surgery fellowship at Stanford University, and passed both her otolaryngology—head and neck surgery, as well as facial plastic surgery written and oral board examinations that same year. This advanced training focused on complex primary and revision rhinoplasty for both cosmetic and functional purposes, as well as several other cosmetic procedures for facial aging and Mohs reconstructive procedures. In her current position as assistant professor of facial plastic and reconstructive surgery at Washington University School of Medicine, Dr. Spataro continues to teach medical students, residents and fellows. She is actively involved in the American Academy of Facial Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery (AAFPRS), serving on several committees, as well as the facial plastic surgery fellowship program at Washington University. Dr. Spataro has published many articles medical journals and is regularly invited to give national presentations on facial plastic surgery. Her research interests include assessing facial plastic surgery clinical outcomes, and in particular to understand how patients themselves rate the outcomes of surgeries they undergo.
