About Edwin G. Wilkins, MD
Edwin G. Wilkins, M.D. is a Professor in the Section of Plastic Surgery at the University Michigan. He is certified in Plastic Surgery by the American Board of Plastic Surgery. Dr. Wilkins received his M.D. from Wake Forest University School of Medicine. He did his residency training at Charlotte Memorial Hospital in Charlotte, North Carolina. He did a fellowship at the University of Louisville School of Medicine before joining the faculty of the University of Michigan Section of Plastic Surgery in 1989. Dr. Wilkins has an active research program related to breast cancer and breast reconstruction. His current studies consist of evaluation of long-term outcomes of post-mastectomy breast reconstruction and implementation. Dr. Wilkins is a member of many national specialty societies including American Society of Plastic Surgeons, American Association of Plastic Surgeons, American College of Surgeons, American Telemedicine Association, and Plastic Surgery Educational Society. He served as the Plastic Surgery Educational Foundation Visiting Professor for 2010. Dr. Wilkins performs a wide variety of cosmetic and reconstructive surgical procedures with his main focus being on breast reconstruction.
