About Divya Shokeen
Raised in Southern California and educated at UCLA, Dr. Divya Shokeen is excited to be back home and working with American Skin Institute! Dr. Shokeen began her undergraduate education with a major in psychobiology with an interest in biochemistry at the University of California, Los Angeles. After being accepted for medical school on the east coast at the prestigious Drexel University College of Medicine, in Philadelphia, PA, she was excited to expand her educational horizons on the east coast. Due to her leadership and scholarly excellence throughout medical school, she was awarded a research opportunity as a Dermatology pre-doctoral research fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania during her first and second year of medical school. Her leadership skills led her to be the Northeast Regional director of the American Medical Student association, where she worked towards universal healthcare laws. Dr. Shokeen completed her internship in internal medicine at University of California, Irvine and returned to the east coast at the University of Florida. She was one of two to be elected as a National Cutis Resident Recipient, writing two quarterly articles for the national journal as well as the winner of “Top 10 Resident Presentations” award at the Cosmetic surgery forum. Furthermore, her last year of residency, Dr. Shokeen organized and led resident and medical student lectures and didactics.
