About Diana L. Elias, MD
Dr. Elias is a native of South Florida and has been practicing in St. Petersburg since 1991. She completed her pre-medical training at the University of South Florida in Tampa with dual degrees in Chemistry and Microbiology, and graduated magna cum laude. Her efforts were rewarded with a scholarship to complete her medical studies at Emory University in Atlanta. After graduating magna cum laude from medical school, she became only the second woman to be granted a residency position in the prestigious Emory General Surgery Residency Program. After completion of 5 years of general surgery, she became the first woman to be offered a position in the Emory Plastic Surgery Program. During these two years, she became fascinated with the challenging field of facial reconstruction, and elected to extend her training another year by completing a Craniofacial Surgery Fellowship at UCLA. Dr. Elias has been an active member of the American Society for Plastic Surgeons for over 25 years. When not busy with her work, Dr. Elias enjoys time with her husband Mark, who is also a physician, and their numerous rescued pets. She is an avid athlete who loves tennis, skiing, hiking and windsurfing. On quiet days, she can often be found gardening or tending her orchid collection.
