About David Kelly, MD
Dr. David Kelly is a board certified plastic and reconstructive surgeon at the Center for Dermatology and Plastic Surgery. He has a diverse and comprehensive surgical background that offers expertise in the fields of reconstructive surgery, cosmetic surgery, hand surgery, and microsurgery. A native of Salt Lake City, Dr. Kelly completed his undergraduate degree in biology and biochemistry at the University of Utah, graduating Cum Laude. He went on to earn is medical degree from the University of Utah graduating as a member and co-president of the distinguished Alpha Omega Alpha (AOA) Medical Honor Society. In medical school, Dr. Kelly was recipient of multiple awards including the Paul Wintrobe Memorial Award for most outstanding senior medical student, graduating at the top of his class, and being selected for an international medical student fellowship in Prague, Czech Republic. After medical school, Dr. Kelly completed a six year residency in plastic and reconstructive surgery at Wake Forest University in North Carolina. While learning the most up to date techniques in reconstructive and aesthetic surgery, he published and presented multiple research articles in the field of plastic and reconstructive surgery to national and international audiences. Dr. Kelly excelled in his education and was the winner of the Southeastern Society of Plastic and Reconstructive Surgeons residency jeopardy bowl and named best surgical burn ICU resident of the year. Dr. Kelly’s passion for plastic surgery and medical mission work began in college and has grown during his training. He lived in Slovenia for 2 years as a missionary, studied international medicine and policy in Prague, and has spent time in Chisinau, Moldova educating local surgeons in breast surgery reconstruction after mastectomy. Dr. Kelly also traveled to Guatemala City and Kenya to help children born with severe craniofacial deformities. His drive for education and excellence has lead Dr. Kelly to complete an additional year of training at the world renowned Christine M. Kleinert Institute for Hand and Microsurgery. While training with some of the most influential reconstructive surgeons in the World, he has learned cutting edge hand and microsurgery surgery techniques for both reconstructive and elective procedures. Dr. David Kelly offers a broad range of cosmetic and reconstructive services. His clinical interests include hand and wrist surgery (Carpal tunnel, arthritis, tennis elbow, Dupuytrens, ganglion cysts, tendinitis, congenital hand anomalies, and fractures), microsurgery, Mohs reconstruction from skin cancer, complex extremity or abdominal reconstruction, body contouring procedures (Tummy tuck, liposuction, arm/thigh lift, post weight loss surgery, buttock lift, and fat grafting), breast surgery (Breast reduction or lift, augmentation, breast construction following mastectomy or lumpectomy), and facial rejuvenation procedures (Face/neck lift, brow lift, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty, and injectable treatments). He now lives in Gilbert, AZ with his wife, Ashley, and three children. Dr. Kelly loves to spend time with his family and to explore the world by traveling. He also enjoys biking, running, and being at the beach.
