About Cynthia Y. Ng, MD
I am a local, born and raised in Palo Alto. I’ve always had a love of the sciences, which was confirmed when I studied Molecular and Cell Biology at the University of California, Berkeley and graduated with honors. However, I realized that I felt too isolated in the lab and needed more interactions with people. This and a lifelong commitment to helping others are what directed me to medical school. I then left the Bay Area to obtain a medical degree from the University of California, Davis School of Medicine. While at UC Davis, I was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. I developed an interest in Dermatology for its uniqueness in being both a medical and surgical specialty. I also enjoyed being able to see both adult and pediatric patients. I completed an internship in Internal Medicine at Harvard Medical School/Brigham and Woman’s Hospital in Boston, Massachusetts. From there, I moved to Providence, Rhode Island where I did my residency training in Dermatology at Brown Medical School/Rhode Island Hospital.
