About Charlotte S. Resch, MD
I'm delighted to be able to introduce myself to you. I hope the information on this page will help you feel comfortable and confident in your choice of a physician. Here you'll find my credentials and other details about my practice and me. I grew up in the eastern United States and in eastern Canada, but now I very much enjoy living in a climate where I can choose to visit the snow rather than have it come visit me. My father was a physician, and when I was in seventh grade I had already decided to follow in his footsteps because I really wanted to help people. However, my three older siblings beat me to it and went into medicine ahead of me. In fact, both of my sisters are also surgeons. It's not often you find three female surgeons in one family! Surgery was not a common career choice for women when I entered the field, but I did not let that deter me. In fact, I was the first woman to ever complete a surgery residency at my alma mater, Dalhousie University in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I have never regretted my choice. Before pursuing medicine, there was a point where I once considered a career in art. I was thrilled to discover in medical school that plastic surgery allows me to combine art and science to help restore the face and body. That's what I love about my chosen field. Performing surgery with results that the whole world can see is a challenge but also a source of great satisfaction. Another source of satisfaction is speaking to women about breast reconstruction after cancer surgery. I speak regularly at Image Reborn, a panel discussion on breast reconstruction presented quarterly by the department of plastic surgery at our Fontana Medical Center.
