About Breton Yates, MD
Dr. Breton Yates was born and raised in Farmington, Utah. He attended the University of Utah where he graduated Magna Cum Laude with a Bachelor of Science degree in Biology in 2008. He went on to medical school at the University of Utah School of Medicine, graduating in 2012. During medical school he received several accolades from his peers and professors including membership in the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha National Medical Honor Society as a junior medical student. After medical school, Dr. Yates completed a transitional year internship at Intermountain Medical Center followed by a residency in dermatology at the University of Connecticut Health Center. During his final year, Dr. Yates served as Chief Resident and was given the prestigious Most Outstanding Resident award, which is awarded to the top resident across all specialties. Following completion of his general dermatology residency, he continued at the University of Connecticut for a fellowship in Mohs Micrographic Surgery and Dermatologic Oncology during which time he gained subspecialty training in several professional areas of interest including: Mohs micrographic surgery, advanced reconstructive surgery, cutaneous oncology, laser surgery, and cosmetic dermatology. Dr. Yates has published articles and presented at national meetings. He is currently a fellow member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatologic Surgery. He received his board certification in dermatology in 2016 from the American Board of Dermatology. Dr. Yates and his wife, Lara, also a native of Salt Lake City, are excited to be returning home to Utah with their three children. In his spare time, Dr. Yates enjoys spending time outdoors playing competitive soccer, golfing, mountain biking, hiking, snowboarding, and wakeboarding.
