What is the average cost of Ultherapy®?

Ultherapy® by Merz Aesthetics is a non-invasive skin tightening solution for facial rejuvenation. Ultherapy® (i.e. ultrasound skin tightening) is the only ultrasound technology system approved by the United States Food and Drug Administration (FDA) to treat the neck, jawline, chin, decolletage, and eyebrow area. Ultherapy® works by sending ultrasound energy deep into the dermis and SMAS layer to stimulate new collagen and elastin production. This system is considered a minimally invasive alternative to a facelift, laser skin resurfacing, and other skin resurfacing solutions.

The Specifics

What affects the cost of Ultherapy®?

So, what exactly do the variables we mentioned in the table mean for your wallet? The bullet points below can give you a feel for questions to ask and factors to consider when consulting with a provider or researching an Ultherapy® treatment. Reminder, these are estimates and consultations always provide the most accurate cost assessment.

  • Treatment Area: A larger area, like the neck, will cost more than smaller treatment areas, such as the eyebrows.
  • Provider: A more experienced, board certified cosmetic provider or specialized dermatologist usually has higher fees for their expertise.
  • Location: The 2019 American Society of Plastic Surgeons (ASPS) Report generally shows that most cosmetic procedures occur along the coasts. While there is no specific data for Ultherapy®, it is reasonable to assume costs will be higher along the coasts due to the higher volume of procedures.
  • Maintenance: Ultherapy® may require multiple initial sessions and ongoing sessions for result upkeep. This is an important consideration in determining the level of financial investment you will be making in an Ultherapy® treatment.

What does the cost of Ultherapy® include?

So what are you actually paying for in an Ultherapy® session? Like we mentioned, the factors we listed in our first table each have their own fees. The cost of the Ultherapy® itself will have additional costs for the provider’s time, the facility’s supplies and procedure room, and any recovery supplies provided by your facility added to create the total cost.

Ultherapy®, depending on the body area treated and desired results, may necessitate multiple sessions to achieve the final aesthetic. All costs we mention on this page are single session prices. For those considering regular treatments or those who require multiple initial treatments, costs will be higher.

How much does Ultherapy® cost?

Ultherapy® costs will vary considerably by candidate and the body area being treated. As we stated above, larger treatment areas (like a full face or neck) will require more machine time and, therefore, have higher costs compared to smaller treatment areas.

Additionally, a patient’s skin laxity, gender, muscularity, and age will have an impact on the treatment plan and cost. Again, this is due to how much time will be required during the session. Most Ultherapy® treatments require only one session, however, in some cases multiple treatments may be needed. Ultherapy® sessions run $500 to $5,000, and the results typically last one to two years.

How much does Ultherapy® cost across the United States?

It’s all about location! As we mentioned, the 2019 ASPS Report notes that the majority of cosmetic procedures occur along the coasts, and this most likely holds true for Ultherapy®.

  • Cosmetic Surgery: Reshapes normal structures of the body in order to improve appearance and self-esteem.
  • Reconstructive Surgery: Alterations to abnormal body structures caused by congenital defects, developmental abnormalities, trauma, infection, tumors, or disease.

Basically, reconstructive surgeries may be covered by and cosmetic procedures will definitely not be. Ultherapy® is cosmetic, so it will not be covered.
