About William A. Shortt, DDS
Dr. William Shortt received his bachelor of science degree from Alma College then went on to attend the University of Michigan Dental School graduating with Therese in 1987. Dr. Bill performs all aspects of general dentistry but is highly trained in oral surgery and implantology becoming certified through the renowned Misch Institute in 2000. He has extracted thousands of wisdom teeth and placed well over a thousand implants. He specializes in complex cases with implants as well as implant retained dentures. Dr. Bill likewise performs root canals, crown and bridge work and traditional dentistry. He has logged hundreds of hours of continuing education over the 30 years of practice. Our office has the state of the art Cerec system which enables Drs. Bill and Therese to fabricate and mill a porcelain crown in one appointment. It can also produce an ideal crown for restoring an implant. He is currently a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry and the International Committee of Implantology. Dr. Bill is a private pilot and a member of the Flying Dentists, an organization dedicated to mission work. He and his wife have flown on dental mission trips with staff and dental students to poor villages in Jamaica and the Dominican Republic. He enjoys snowboarding, kite surfing, water skiing, biking, hunting and fishing, especially when any of the above are done with his three children!
