About Thomas R. Leischner, DDS
Dr. Leischner graduated in 1970 from Loyola Dental School. He pursued his passion for hospital dentistry by completing an internship at Hines Veteran’s Hospital in Maywood, Illinois. Afterward, Dr. Leischner joined the staff at West Side Veteran’s Hospital in Chicago to treat returning veterans from the Vietnam War. Joining hospital staffs at Loyola, Gottlieb, and Alexian Brother’s Hospitals, he treated medically and mentally compromised patients for three decades. Expanding his love for dentistry in the geriatric population, Dr. Leischner obtained an Illinois Nursing Home Administrator’s license. He has worked with the Illinois Sate Dental Society and the Illinois Department of Public Health, training and educating long term care facility healthcare workers in the maintenance of their resident’s oral health. As a member of the American Dental Association, Illinois Dental Society, Chicago Dental Society, Special Care Dentistry Society, Academy of General Dentistry, and Illinois Nursing Home Administrators Society, he has continued to expand and sharpen his clinical skills with more than 1100 hours of teaching and classroom continuing education. Dr. Leischner currently remains in Illinois as a staff member at Alexian Brother’s Medical Center in Elk Grove, and St. Alexius in Hoffman Estates, and with affiliations at Friendship Village Retirement Community in Schaumburg, and Mt. St. Joseph Home for Women in Lake Zurich.
