About Rupa B. Pugashetti, MD
Rupa Badlani feel both honored and privileged to work at Kaiser Permanente. I am a Bay Area native, as I grew up in the Berkeley Hills and attended the University of California Berkeley. I completed my dermatology residency at the University of California San Francisco where I was chief resident in my final year. After 3 years in private practice dermatology, I decided to make the switch to Kaiser Permanente because I agree with its important missions: promoting wellness, a strong focus on prevention and a completely integrated healthcare system which makes it easy for patients and physicians to connect. My mother was a physician here at Oakland Medical Center for 30 years so I also grew up as a patient within this system. As both a patient and a provider I honestly believe that Kaiser Permanente offers the most cutting-edge and innovative healthcare model in the country. I am continuously impressed and inspired by my Kaiser Permanente colleagues, including not only the excellent physicians but also the nurses, medical assistants and office staff who make our busy clinics and hospitals run every single day. I chose to become a dermatologist because I find this field both challenging and rewarding - from treating common skin conditions such as psoriasis or acne to diagnosing malignancies. I find my work extremely gratifying every single day. I also truly appreciate the long-term relationships I build with my patients and I enjoy learning about my patients who come from diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds here in the East Bay. In my spare time, I enjoy spending time with my family including my husband and two sons, exercising, cooking, traveling and exploring beautiful San Francisco. I look forward to meeting you in Dermatology!
