About Richard J. Volk, DDS
Dr. Volk has been serving the Illinois community with its' dental needs since 1979. He did research work at the School of Dental and Oral Surgery at Columbia University and is a graduate of Northwestern University School of Dental and Oral Surgery in Chicago, graduating with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree. Dr. Volk is the owner, administrator and working dentist of two group dental practices, Dr. Volk and Associates (Richard J. Volk, D.D.S. P.C.) in Bartlett, Illinois and Schaumburg Dental Associates (in the Northwest Community Professional Building) in Schaumburg, Illinois. Dr. Volk has been the current Chief of Staff of the Dental Division at Northwest Community Hospital in Arlington Heights, Illinois for over 5 years. Dr. Volk was chosen to receive The 2011 Chicago Top Doctors & Dentists Award for his achievement in the dental field. He was invited to participate in the filming of the Top Doc Chicago television commerical, airing on FOX Chicago during the Doctor OZ show, besides receiving a plaque. Dr. Volk is a member of the American Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Illinois State Dental Society, American Student Dental Association, Delta Sigma Delta Dental Fraternity, American Academy of Pedodontics and American Academy of General Dentistry. In addition to general dentistry, Dr. Volk is certified and licensed to perform laser medicine and surgery, branemark implants, core-vent implants, imz implants, Straumann implants®, 3i implants and madibular staple implants. Dr. Volk also actively works on emergency cases within the surrounding area hospitals. Dr. Volk has been published in various trade journals, dental abstracts and newspapers including, Illinois State Dental Journal, Dentistry Today, Dental Products Reports and Prevention magazine. Dr. Volk is also an active lecturer in the field of anesthetics and has lectured in New York, Boston, California, Georgia and Hamburg, Germany. Dr. Volk was also published in DENTAL ABSTRACTS, A selection of World Dental Literature"" June 1984 Volume 29 Number 6, operative dentistry for his Anesthetic Warmer. Dr. Volk was also chosen to receive The 2011 Chicago Top Doctors and Dentists Award"" for achievement in the dental field. Dr. Volk says, people love having shots that don't hurt, so in 1984, Dr. Volk invented, patented and prototyped the ""Injecta Caddy"" to help give almost painless dental injections. The ""Injecta Caddy"" is a special device developed by Dr. Volk for storing, warming and dispensing carpules of medication such as Novocain. This device is currently used as a standard for dental injections in both the United States and Europe. Dr. Volk was voted one of American's Top Dentists for 2003-2004 and is featured in Strathmore's ""Who's Who"" 2001 and 2002, The National Registry of Who's Who - Historical Society (Boston, Massachusetts) and has been accepted as a life member in the Kingston's National Registry of Who's Who. Dr. Volk even repaired a broken denture for President Ronald Reagan in the summer of 1984. Aside from all of Dr. Volk's accomplishments, most of all, he is honest, and is more into the care of his patients than money. Early in his career, Dr. Volk even put in a solid gold crown on a dog with a broken tooth. The story Okay Honey Bear, Bite Down by Fran Spitz Coulter was published in Dental Economics in January 1983. When serious dental emergencies arise and patients are in excruciating pain, Dr. Volk is quoted as saying, ""I'm not your best friend... I'm your only friend."" Dr. Volk is licensed to practice dentistry in the states of Illinois, New York, New Jersey, Washington D.C. and Ohio. When Dr. Volk does have time to be away from his busy dental practice, he enjoys golfing, racquetball, horseback riding, boat racing, fishing, snorkeling and scuba diving. Dr. Volk is a native of New York City, is married with three children and resides in Schaumburg, Illinois.
