About Pooja Chitgopeker, MD
Pooja Chitgopeker, MD is a board-certified dermatologist and fellowship-trained Mohs Micrographic Skin Cancer surgeon. Originally from Auckland, New Zealand, Dr. Chitgopeker earned her medical degree from her hometown, at the University of Auckland. She completed dermatology residency and an intensive fellowship training in Mohs surgery, advanced facial reconstruction, cosmetics and laser surgery at the University of Iowa, Iowa City. Dr. Chitgopeker has presented at national meetings and has authored numerous publications in dermatologic surgery, cutaneous oncology, cosmetic and laser surgery. During her training she was awarded the prestigious cutting edge research grant from the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery and carried out the largest split-scar clinical study comparing fractional lasers to improve the appearance and symptoms of surgical and traumatic scars. Dr. Chitgopeker is a fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and a member of the American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, the American Society for Laser Medicine and Surgery, Women’s Dermatologic Society and the American College of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Chitgopeker is passionate about providing individualized and high quality care for each of her patients. Her clinical interests and expertise include Mohs surgery and reconstruction, skin cancer prevention and management, scar revision, cosmetics including neurotoxins, soft tissue augmentation and laser surgery.
