About Phillip C. Yancho, DDS
Dr. Yancho is a respected dentist, who provides preventative, cosmetic, periodontal, and restorative dental services in a state-of-the-art facility with an outstanding dedication to quality, personalized care. With more than 30 years of family and cosmetic dentistry experience, board-certified dentist Dr. Phillip C. Yancho has refined his dental skills to provide the children and adults of Traverse City, MI with excellent oral health care. Dr. Yancho graduated from the University of Michigan, School of Dentistry with honors. Dr. Yancho obtained a B.S. in Biological Sciences from Michigan Technological University and also studied at Harvard University Summer School. He is a member of the American Dental Association, the Michigan Dental Association, and the Resort District Dental Society. Since 2009, Dr. Yancho has been recognized as a ""Top Dentist,"" and he is regularly recognized by his peers for providing exceptional care. He was recently inducted into the International College of Dentists (ICD), the oldest and largest honor society for dentists. Dr. Yancho recently became the recipient of a 2017 Public Service Award from the Michigan Dental Association for his contribution and efforts in the delivery of care to the underinsured and uninsured area veterans. This pilot program he participated in is called Victors for Veterans (V4V). It is a program to try to get area veterans access to dental care for little to no cost. His son Joe Yancho was one of the instrumental students to get this V4V program going in the Grand Traverse Area. Dr. Yancho’s office was the pilot site where 38 veterans were served almost $250,000 in free dentistry from January to December 2016. Dr. Yancho is board certified through the American Dental Association (ADA) and he is also a proud to be a member of the prestigious International College of Dentists, which is the oldest and largest honor society for dentists (only 3% of dentists are invited to join). His fully digital (chartless), modern dental practice employs a dedicated staff that are trained in many of the latest dental technologies, such as CEREC (Chairside Economical Restoration of Esthetic Ceramics) same-day restorations. Dr. Yancho uses his special dental skills for cosmetic dentistry (porcelain veneers, teeth whitening, tooth-colored fillings, inlays and onlays), general and family dentistry (preventative care, tooth extractions), and restorative dentistry (same-day crowns, dental implants, bridges, and root canal therapy). Dr. Yancho also offers safe sedation dentistry with nitrous oxide for routine dental procedures and more complex treatments. Dr. Yancho earned his Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences, with honors, from Michigan Technological University in Houghton, MI. He went on to the Harvard Health Professions Program in Cambridge, MA and to earn his Doctorate of Dental Surgery (DDS), with honors at University of Michigan School of Dentistry in Ann Arbor, MI. Dr. Yancho earned the D.H. Baker Dental Lab Award for providing quality restorative dentistry and outstanding care to patients in 2009. Dr. Yancho was also awarded the Maxillofacial Surgeons Award in 1985. He frequently appears on ""Top Doctor"" and ""Top Dentist"" lists in the Northern Michigan area. To provide the best procedures and services to his patients, Dr. Yancho spends a lot of time furthering his knowledge in dentistry. By completing 3 times the minimum number of continuing education required hours for licensure, Dr. Yancho keeps up-to-date on all of the modern dental techniques, treatments, and technology. He also completed the Dawson Academy training in St. Petersburg, FL, and Traverse City, MI taking enriching himself with lectures and hands-on courses. As a native Michigander, Dr. Yancho was born in Flint and decided to raise his family in Traverse City. He has been married to his loving wife, Sally, of 29 years, and together they have raised 4 children. Dr. Yancho feels tremendously blessed to have his wife work for the office from their home, with the ability to stay home to raise their children (who he believes turned out to be very fine adults). His dental office is like his second home, and he feels as though his patients and staff members are like family. As his experienced and dedicated team are hand-picked to work with him, Dr. Yancho is fortunate to have so many long-term employees (some of his team members have worked in his practice for more than 20 years). Dr. Yancho feels very passionate about his career as a dentist, and still loves going into the office everyday even after 35 years. This passion has extended into two of his children's lives as well. Son, Joe, is a dentist in the US Navy. He is stationed in Japan aboard the U.S.S. New Orleans. Youngest daughter, Hannah, is a third year dental student at the University of Michigan School of Dentistry as well. They have seen how much he loves his work and have decided to pursue a career in dentistry as well.
