About Mona Shahriari, MD

Dr. Shahriari earned her undergraduate degree from the University of Connecticut where she graduated Summa Cum Laude as an Honors Program Scholar. She went on to earn her medical degree from the University of Connecticut and developed a strong interest in dermatology during this time. After spending a year at Baystate medical center completing her internship in internal medicine, she returned to the University of Connecticut to complete her residency in Dermatology where she served as Chief resident. Prior to co-founding Central Connecticut Dermatology, Dr. Shahriari was assistant professor of dermatology and associate director of the clinical trials unit at the University of Connecticut Department of Dermatology. She is board certified by the American Board of Dermatology and a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology. Dr. Shahriari’s clinical and research interests include inflammatory skin conditions and the study of novel therapeutics for skin disease. Her clinical focus includes psoriasis and eczema, in particular treatment regimens utilizing biologics (i.e Dupilumab®, Humira®, Stelara®, Cosentyx®, Taltz®, Siliq®,Tremfya®, Cimzia®, Ilumya®, Skyrizi®). She has served as principle investigator and sub-investigator for numerous multi-center clinical studies, published articles in well renowned peer-reviewed journals and served as an invited speaker at local and national conferences. She was also elected as Secretary of the Connecticut Society of Dermatology and Dermatologic Surgery, serving her community in this role for the past 2 years. Aside from her special interests, she is proud to offer her patients a comprehensive practice where she treats adult and pediatric patients, offers cosmetic services, and performs small surgeries for skin cancer or benign skin growths. This distinguishes her as a well-rounded dermatologist. Dr. Shahriari is excited to continue treating patients in her home state of Connecticut and offer them the most innovative therapies for their skin disease. She’s passionate about the well-being of her patients, is enthusiastic about hearing their story, and enjoys forming everlasting bonds with them.
