About Michael A. Christian, DMD
Dr. Michael Christian is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist at The Center for Dental Excellence. Prosthodontics the dental specialty that focuses on the aesthetic, prosthetic, and functional reconstruction and replacement of missing or deficient (broken-down) teeth and/or oral and maxillofacial tissues using biocompatible substitutes. He completed his Doctoral Degree from the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine, receiving several awards in the fields of prosthodontics, restorative, and implant dentistry. He continued his education by completing a three-year specialty residency in Prosthodontics at the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry, arguably one of, if not the most advanced and progressive residency training programs for Prosthodontics in the country. While at UIC, Dr. Christian received extensive training in the surgical placement of dental implants, in addition to full mouth reconstruction, “teeth in a day,” implant-supported denture protocols, maxillofacial prosthetics, traditional crowns, veneers, dentures, fillings, cosmetic procedures, extractions, and all other aspects of restorative and general dentistry. Prosthodontics is the only ADA-approved dental specialty with formal, residency-based training in both the surgical placement and prosthetic restoration of dental implants. Dr. M Christian frequently utilizes advanced imaging, CBCT, for 3-Dimension computer guided treatment planning and dental implant surgery. As a Board Certified Prosthodontist, Dr. M Christian is personally able to plan, engineer, and execute the treatment from start to finish with the end result in mind, often completing all of the treatment in the comfortable, convenient environment here at the Center For Dental Excellence. As a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics, Dr. Christian is one of only fourteen private-practice Board Certified Prosthodontists in Connecticut. Less than one half of one percent of all US dentists achieve this recognition and even less have formal surgical implant training. Dr. Michael Christian is a Diplomate of the American Board of Prosthodontics and a Fellow of the American College of Prosthodontics. He holds memberships in the American Dental Association, the American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, the Connecticut State Dental Association, the Hartford Dental Society, and the Litchfield County Dental Society. Dr. Michael Christian also volunteers as part-time faculty at the University of Connecticut School of Dental Medicine teaching the dental students. He also frequently lectures to dentists and specialists at local study clubs, as well as to dental residents, and has been invited to speak at National Dental Meetings. Prior to his dental career, Dr. Michael Christian graduated Magna Cum Laude and Phi Beta Kappa from Saint Michael’s College in Colchester, VT with a BA in music and psychology. A native to Simsbury, Dr. M. Christian enjoys traveling with his wife, Arabella, spending time with their daughters: Poeta and Allegra, skiing, music, snow sports, and enjoying life!
