About Meredith A. Abbott, MD
Meredith Abbott, M.D., joined Oculoplastic Associates of Texas in 2011. Dr. Abbott completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan following her residency training at UT Southwestern where she gained a solid foundation in Ophthalmology. She is board certified and specializes in the delicate periocular region including the eyelids, tear ducts, and the bony area surrounding the eye called the orbit. Her expertise ranges from cosmetic upper and lower eyelid surgery and rejuvenation, eyelid tumors and reconstruction, addressing problems of the lacrimal system, as well as orbital work including orbital tumors and thyroid eye disease. Dr. Abbott completed a fellowship in Ophthalmic Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at the prestigious New York Eye and Ear Infirmary in Manhattan. She is board certified in Ophthalmology and specializes in Oculoplastics. Dr. Abbott has returned to Dallas where she had completed her Ophthalmology residency at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. Dr. Abbott is a native of Cleburne, TX, and attended medical school at Texas Tech University School of Medicine. Dr. Abbott welcomes patients of all ages with functional disorders of the eyelid, lacrimal (tear) system and orbit as well as patients pursuing cosmetic eyelid surgery and rejuvenation. In March of 2012, Dr. Abbott served as a volunteer surgeon in Santiago, Dominican Republic, for the Volunteer Health Program, a program which her fellowship preceptor and his wife, Dr. and Mrs. Robert C. Della Rocca, founded in 1994 to provide care for underserved rural areas in Latin America. In 2012, over 1,000 patients were screened for ophthalmic problems including cataracts, strabismus, and oculoplastic surgery and over 45 oculoplastic cases were performed by Dr. Abbott and her colleagues. She looks forward to continued support of the mission in future years.
