About Mark A. Hansen, DMD
I’m Dr. Mark Hansen. I have been in private practice for more than twenty years, providing exceptional results in family, reconstructive, and esthetic dental care. I earned my bachelor’s degree from the University of California at Berkeley and my doctoral degree from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. These top tier schools equipped me with the knowledge and skills to provide accurate diagnosis and expert, effective treatment. And I am just as passionate today about continuing my professional learning. These days, I am honored to be a fellow in the International Congress of Oral Implantology. I participate in nationally recognized study clubs, learning collaboratively with my colleagues. And I take ongoing professional development courses—routinely logging triple the credits required by law. My courses extend well beyond the typical scope of general dentistry, from complex treatment planning to sleep apnea, from periodontics to pediatrics. I was also one of a handful of dentists invited to study with the world’s leading expert in composite dentistry. My deep commitment to my profession stems from my desire to provide the best possible care for my patients and to ensure that they benefit from proven, effective strategies. My learning is lifelong. I’m also committed to volunteering, both locally and abroad, helping people in difficult circumstances improve their quality of life. Close to home, I serve on the Peer Review Committee for the Marin County Dental Society. I was a volunteer dentist for Marin Head Start for 20 years and got a lot of joy from helping kids learn good oral hygiene early. I was also a community volunteer at the Buck Institute for five years and support Novato Human Needs and the Novato Youth Center. Further afield, I have given my time and expertise to Rotaplast International, a nonprofit organization that treats children in developing countries with cleft lip and other problems who would otherwise go without life-enhancing surgery enabling them to smile. I have taken my services on the road with Rotoplast to Brazil, El Salvador and Venezuela. And I served on the Board for eight years, and served as Board Chair from 2011 to 2013.
