About Joyce H. Park, MD
I am practicing dermatology in the Bay Area. I completed my dermatology residency in the department of Dermatology at NYU Langone Health. My research interests include using social media in innovative ways to educate the public about skin. I published a study looking at how dermatology topics are shared on Instagram in 2018 and how dermatology is discussed on Reddit in 2019. I run a skincare and beauty blog at www.teawithMD.com, where I write about evidence based skincare and the path to becoming a doctor. In medical school I took a year off to do a medical journalism fellowship, working at NBC News and the World Health Organization, and I am so interested in using different media outlets to tell stories about health. I continued my journalism training in residency, working in the ABC News Medical Unit. I think physicians have a responsibility to learn how to use traditional and newer forms of media to educate and connect to a larger patient population.
