About Jon F. Ackerman, DDS
Joining the Stamford Dental Group as an associate doctor, Dr. Jon F. Ackerman brings years of experience in private practice, as well as in academia and research. Dr. Ackerman graduated from the University of Virginia with a BA in biology, concentrating in molecular genetics. He went on to earn his DDS degree from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, and then completed his general practice residency at Long Island Jewish Medical Center, where he served as chief resident his second year. Dr. Ackerman studied at Boston University School of Graduate Dentistry, where he was awarded a certificate of advanced graduate study in prosthodontics. Dr. Ackerman joined the faculty of Columbia University School of Dental and Oral Surgery, where he was named Clinical Director of Undergraduate Prosthodontics. In addition, Dr. Ackerman founded the Columbia University Dental Implant and Consultation Center. In addition to the numerous courses taught at Columbia, Dr. Ackerman has lectured widely on prosthodontics and restorative dentistry. He also serves on the editorial review board for the Journal of Prosthodontics. Dr. Ackerman is a member of the Ninth District Dental Society, State of New York; Northern Westchester Study Club; American Dental Association; and Delta Sigma Delta Fraternity.
