About John C. Fox, MD
John C. Fox, MD, is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology, an active member of the Chicago Dermatological Society, and a diplomate of the American Board of Dermatology (board-certified). Originally from the Commonwealth of Virginia, Dr. Fox completed his undergraduate studies with highest honors (summa cum laude) in Music Performance at Virginia Commonwealth University prior to pursuing a career in medicine. Since moving to Chicago, Dr. Fox completed his studies at the University of Chicago Pritzker School of Medicine, where he received his Doctor of Medicine (MD) degree in 2007. Dr. Fox was selected to stay on with the University of Chicago Medical Center Section of Dermatology and completed his residency training in dermatology. In addition to basic science research in the pathophysiology of acne and sebaceous glands, Dr. Fox has academic publications in the fields of adult and pediatric dermatology, dermatopathology, and neurology. He has been selected to present challenging dermatologic cases at national conferences of the American Academy of Dermatology, the Dr. Maria Medinica Memorial Lectureship Series in Dermatopatholgy, and meetings of the Chicago Dermatological Society. Prior to joining Dermatology Physicians Group, Dr. Fox has served the south suburban Chicagoland community since 2011 as a dermatologist with Southwest Dermatology in New Lenox, IL, where he has worked closely with oncologists at the University of Chicago Cancer Center to provide complex medical dermatologic services to cancer patients undergoing chemotherapy and investigative therapies, in addition to providing family dermatology care to patients of all ages in the New Lenox area. He enjoys treating patients of all ages and has a special interest in pediatric and adolescent dermatology. Dr. Fox is passionate about listening to patient concerns, providing information on medical disorders and treatment options, and empowering patients to play an active role in care decisions that are right for them. He is committed to delivering up-to-date, compassionate, and individualized care.
