About John B. Dell, DDS
Dr. Dell is half Native American from the Cochiti Pueblo Reservation in New Mexico. He is the second Native American to become a dentist in the United States. He has lived in California since the age of 2½, having moved to San Francisco in 1957. He graduated from Sacred Heart High School (now SHCP) in 1960, attended the University of San Francisco for four years, and graduated from UCSF in 1969 where he received his BS and DDS degrees. Dr. Dell has taught in the Crown and Bridge Department at the University of Pacific, School of Dentistry (now the Arthur Dugoni School of Dentistry), during which he did dental illustrations for the department. He was also Chief of the Dental Clinic at Laguna Honda Hospital in San Francisco for eight years, while also practicing in various clinics and private offices throughout the Bay Area.
