Dr. Belz is a proud native Texan, born and raised in San Antonio. She attended Health Careers High School and enrolled in Princeton University where she graduated summa cum laude with a B.A. in Anthropology and a concentration in German. She was elected into Phi Beta Kappa and selected to be a Fulbright Scholar. After graduation, she spent time doing research in Berlin, Germany. Dr. Belz is also fluent in Spanish as well as German. Upon her return to the United States, Dr. Belz studied medicine at the nation’s first medical school, the University of Pennsylvania School of Medicine, where she was a prestigious Gamble Scholar. During medical school, she was selected to be a Max Kade/AAF fellow and was fortunate to study in Vienna, Austria. This enlightening experience at the Allgemeines Krankenhaus der Stadt Wien, one of the largest hospitals in Europe, was instrumental in her decision to study cosmetic and plastic surgery. Upon returning to Penn, she was privileged to interact with a talented group of plastic surgeons, where she gained more exposure to breast, body, and facial surgery early in her career. Dr. Belz’ academic journey brought her to the Midwest. She completed her residency in reconstructive and plastic surgery at Washington University in St. Louis and Barnes-Jewish Hospital—one of the nation’s preeminent programs. She further specialized in aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery in Grand Rapids, MI, where she completed a highly competitive fellowship with Dr. Dennis Hammond, one of the world’s most recognized and respected authorities in breast surgery, and inventor of the SPAIR technique. She is board-certified by the American Board of Plastic Surgery.
