About Jane M. Grant-Kels, MD
Dr. Jane Grant-Kels is Professor and founding Chair of the Department of Dermatology at the University of Connecticut (UCONN) Health Center and Medical School. She was the founding director of the dermatology residency program and founding director of the dermatopathology laboratory. She remains the founding director of both the Cutaneous Oncology Center and Melanoma Program. Dr. Grant-Kels specializes in cutaneous oncology and pigmented lesions of the skin. She founded the first dermatology division and then department at UCONN. She was instrumental in the development of the Women’s Health Center at UCONN Health Center and, most recently, initiated a Cutaneous Oncology Center within the Neag Cancer Center and Department of Dermatology. Dr. Grant-Kels received a BA degree from Smith College, Northhampton, Massachusetts, and Dartmouth Medical School, Hanover, New Hampshire, and her medical degree from Cornell University Medical College in New York. She trained in pediatrics and dermatology at the New York Hospital of Cornell Medical Center. She then completed a dermatopathology fellowship at NYU under the direction of A. Bernard Ackerman.
