About James E. Tangalos, DMD
Dr. James Tangalos is a Michigan native who gained his education and dental training in both Michigan and Fort Lauderdale, Florida. He joins the Whole Dental Wellness team from a general dentistry residency program at St. Joseph Mercy Oakland Hospital in Pontiac, Michigan. Dr. Tangalos is a member of the American Dental Association as well as the Academy of General Dentistry and the Michigan Dental Association. Dr. Tangalos is a man of faith who aims to utilize advancing healthcare and dental technology to resolve dental issues in the most intelligent way possible. His most rewarding moments in his practice have been creating comfortable and trustworthy environments for patients with past fears of going to the dentist. When their treatment is complete and their smile is as wide as ever, so is Dr. Tangalos’. Dr. Tangalos was inspired to pursue dentistry when his brother’s severe Class III underbite was fixed through upper and low jaw surgeries. He was fascinated by the mechanics of his brother’s skeleton and the technology available to help his brother gain a perfect and healthy bite. Dr. Tangalos is passionate about helping others and embarked on a university trip to Jamaica to deliver emergency dental care to patients with limited access to dental care. During his residency year, he gained a special interest in caring for patients with special needs who might not be able to access regular dental checkups. Outside of the dentist’s chair, Dr. Tangalos spends his summers playing all sorts of water sports on a lake in northern Michigan. He is an avid Greek dancer and enjoys spending time with his family, friends, and church community. Dr. James Tangalos His favorite season is fall which also signals the start of football season. Dr. Tangalos is determined to offer an optimal patient-centered experience through mutual trust and understanding. He knows that both he and the patient need to be team players to work together to score the goal of a beautiful smile. His favorite procedures are cosmetic crown and bridge treatment, as well as Endodontic therapy.
