About James A. Sweeney, DDS
Doctor Sweeney grew up in Apple Valley. After graduating from Apple Valley High School in 1998, he attended Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles for his undergraduate degree. He graduated Cum Laude from Loyola Marymount in 2002 and immediately moved to his top choice graduate school, Creighton University Dental School in Omaha, Nebraska. Being as he worked so well with children, Dr. Sweeney considered specializing in pediatric dentistry, but decided against it when he realized how much he would miss practicing general dentistry. He graduated from Creighton in May 2006 and quickly moved his wife and new son back to the High Desert in anticipation of working and establishing a family in his hometown area. Dr. Sweeney opened Hometown Dental in 2007, and takes pride in the philosophies of his practice. Conservative dentistry along with excellent customer service are top priorities for his team, along with gentle, state-of-the-art dental work that is customized to fit a patient's individual needs. He prefers working on one patient at a time (as opposed to assembly line dentistry) so that he has the ability to get to know each person he works with on a personal level. Dr. Sweeney is a member of the American Dental Association, the California Dental Association, the Tri-County Dental Society, and he is a board member for the Western Society of Periodontology. In his spare time you will find Dr. Sweeney spending time with his wife and two children, involving himself in various church activities, and playing video games.
