About Harriet Seldin, DMD
Dr. Seldin is a family dentist with a private dental practice in San Diego, and is a member of the San Diego County Dental Society, the California Dental Association (CDA) and the American Dental Association (ADA). She is a past-delegate to the CDA and the ADA. She is a past-member of CDA’s Dental Care Council. She has received Public Policy Awards from the ADA and CDA, and an Access Award from the ADA. A member of the Academy of General Dentistry (AGD), Dr. Seldin is an AGD Spokesperson. She previously served on the AGD’s Outreach Taskforce. Dr. Seldin is a volunteer faculty member of the UCSD Student-Run Free Clinic Project/UCSD Department of Family Medicine & Public Health, teaching pre-dental college students and treating patients at the charitable dental clinic at Veterans Village of San Diego. Dr. Seldin is a past- President of the San Diego County Dental Foundation. She is a past-Chair of the County of San Diego’s Health Services Advisory Board and a past-President of the San Diego County Dental Society. Dr. Seldin also served on the Dental Board of California, where she chaired the Board’s Enforcement Committee and was active in updated continuing education regulation for the profession. She is a Fellow of the American College of Dentists, International College of Dentists, Pierre Fauchard Academy and Academy of Dentistry International (dental honorary organizations). She is past-President of the American Association of Dental Editors and Editor of the American College of Dentists Southern California Section. She serves on the Editorial Board for the Journal of the American College of Dentists. She chaired the Health Policy Committee of the Regional San Diego Chamber of Commerce and is the Vice Chair of the Professional Advisory Committee to Healthy San Diego. She has consulted for the County of San Diego’s Health Department and was the Dental Director for Grossmont Hospital’s health plan. She represented dentistry at the San Diego County Medical Society’s Access to Care Committee. She has a B.S. (Biology) from Cornell University, a D.M.D. from Tufts University and completed a General Practice Residency at St. Francis Hospital in Honolulu. She has an M.B.A. from the University of Hawaii.
