About Gary R. Hubbard, DDS
A native of the central Michigan area who grew up in Mason and graduated from high school there, Dr. Gary R. Hubbard has proudly served patients throughout the greater Lansing area for over 30 years. After studying at Michigan State University, Dr. Hubbard attended the Universityof Michigan School of Dentistry — graduating in the top 10% of his class and inducted into the honorary dental Fraternity OKU. He then accepted a one year appointment as a clinical instructor at the University of Michigan Dental School, and then returned to Lansing to begin private practice. In 2011, he was awarded accredited member status in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, an honor shared with only eleven others in Michigan. Most recently, in 2019, he was awarded accredited fellow status in the AACD, the highest honor bestowed in the AACD. This honor is shared with only 3 other dentists in Michigan and 84 others in the world. Dr. Hubbard has been active member of organized dentistry at the local, state and national level, actively participating in numerous organizations. Dr. Hubbard served for six years on the University of Michigan School of Dentistry Alumni Board of Governors and for ten years as the Legislative Chairperson for the Central District Dental Society — an organization he has been a member of for over 30 years. He was president of the organization in 1990 and has held numerous roles within the organization, including Treasurer, Secretary, President-Elect, Peer Review Committee Chairperson (2005-09) and Peer Review Committee member. Between 1986 and 1990, he also served as a delegate to the MDA House of Delegates. In addition to a keen interest in restorative and cosmetic dentistry, Dr. Hubbard and his wife Karen enjoy numerous outdoor activities, including golf, kayaking, downhill and cross country skiing, fly-fishing, hunting and scuba diving. They have two grown sons: John, an electrical engineering graduate of Purdue, formerly a lead cyber-security analyst for Glaxo-Smith-Kline and who now teaches and authors courses with, the SANS institute in cyber defense. Matthew, their youngest, is a Georgetown graduate and currently is an Advisory managing consultant for Price Waterhouse Coopers in Washington D.C. Dr. Hubbard volunteers his time as a participant in the Donated Dental Services program with the Michigan Dental Association, and with the Give Back a Smile program for domestic violence victims with the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry. He is also a board member of the Sparrow Hospital Foundation Board, dedicated to the improvement of health care in the Lansing area through philanthropic giving.
