About Francis Matarazzo, DMD
Dr. Francis Matarazzo earned his dental degree with high honors from Temple University Dental School and immediately thereafter served as Captain in the United States Air Force. He continued his post-doctoral training at the University of Pennsylvania in the world renowned program of Periodontal-Prosthesis, under the tutelage of Professors Morton Amsterdam and D. Walter Cohen. The dual specialty certification he earned in Periodontics and Prosthodontics provided the background to attain a clinical associate professorship at Penn. While there, he was instrumental in developing the “Pennsylvania Experiment”, a program that utilized a mentor approach to teaching comprehensive dentistry. This exciting new learning paradigm has since become a permanent aspect of Penn’s educational process. Dr. Matarazzo’s periodontal training provides an excellent foundation for all aspects of dentistry; it allows for a seamless approach from diagnosis to treatment planning to clinical therapy, regardless of the complexity. With his years of experience, he recognizes that each patient has their own special needs, desires, and expectations; they are all unique individuals. Dr. Matarazzo stays in touch with the most important clinical research and development so that he can provide up to date solutions for any dental situation. He and his partner have also made it a priority to utilize state-of-the-art technology and equipment throughout the office. Dr. Matarazzo is member of several professional societies including the Omicron Kappa Upsilon Honorary Dental Society, American Academy of Periodontology, the American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, the American Dental Association, the Pennsylvania Dental Association, and the Philadelphia County Dental Society. Dr. Matarazzo is the proud father of four children. His spare time, in addition to weeding Anita’s gardens, is spent attracting a variety of birds with his numerous squirrel proof feeders.
