From sun damage and acne treatment to Botox and laser hair reduction, Dr. Niroomand and his professional staff will work to achieve the results you expect. Dr. Niroomand has special interests in both medical and cosmetic dermatology. His areas of expertise in medical dermatology include all aspects of infectious diseases as they pertain to the skin. For example, Dr. Niroomand has developed a novel treatment (intralesional cidofivir) for human papilloma virus infections (warts) regardless of where they appear on the body. In the cosmetic arena, Dr. Niroomand has extensive experience in the use of long-lasting fillers, especially silicone and Bellafill, to address facial lipoatrophy, wrinkles, and scars. Dr. Niroomand has a unique perspective given his experience in his life’s journey. Born in Iran, he attended a Catholic high school when he first arrived in the state of Georgia in 1978. He obtained a sponsorship from the First Presbyterian Church of Atlanta to attend both undergraduate college and medical school. He graduated from Georgia State University with the highest honors and was elected to Who’s Who Among Students in American Colleges and Universities. He obtained his medical degree from the Medical College of Georgia where he was a member of the medical student honor society (AOA) and received the Dean’s Research Fellowship. He served his internship at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston and his dermatology residency at Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University where he was chosen chief resident. Dr. Niroomand then joined the faculty at New York University where he was named Teacher of the Year. He returned to the warmth of Texas in 1995 and in 1998 received another teaching award from the dermatology residents at a local medical school. This exposure has made him aware of the rich diversity of his adopted country. His current practice reflects the diversity of Dallas’s cosmopolitan population of every race, sex, creed, ethnicity, age, religion, sexual orientation and socioeconomic backgrounds. This is a source of great appreciation and satisfaction for him, and hopefully, for his patients. Dr. Niroomand has contributed to the healthcare needs of uninsured, underinsured and indigent patients in Dallas through work at Parkland and Baylor hospitals. Currently, he helps supervise dermatology residents at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in his capacity as Clinical Professor of Dermatology. He also directs dermatological services at Prism Health North Texas. Dr. Niroomand is thought to be the first Iranian-American to complete his entire undergraduate, medical school, and post-graduate dermatology education in the United States. He is the first dermatologist to introduce the use of polylactic acid (once known as New Fill, now Sculptra) to the Dallas Metroplex. He was also the first dermatologist to use Artefill (now called Bellafill) in Dallas. He is the first dermatologist in the world to standardize the use of cidofovir in dermatological conditions in his everyday practice. And he may be the only Dallas dermatologist to have climbed Kilimanjaro; an exercise requiring great perseverance. Dr. Niroomand has practiced dermatology in Dallas since 1995 and been board certified since 1992 by the American Board of Dermatology. In addition to patient care and teaching, Dr. Niroomand has contributed research articles to many scientific and medical publications.
