Ellen Mahony received a degree in physical therapy from the University of Connecticut in 1979, and went on to earn a Master’s Degree in International Health Care from Yale University Graduate School. With an advanced degree in public health, she traveled to Africa to engage in research with the Hanang Village Health project in Tanzania, which became the platform for Tanzania’s nationalized healthcare program. Upon Ellen’s return to the States, she entered medical school at the prestigious University of Pennsylvania, and became one of only a select few female physicians invited to enter the University’s General Surgery Residency. She completed a Hand and Microsurgery fellowship at the University of Pennsylvania, and successfully completed their highly-acclaimed Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery Residency.
