About Brian R. Hinds, MD
Brian Hinds, MD, is a board-certified dermatologist and dermatopathologist who specializes in the study of skin under the microscope and treats dermatology patients with a focus on conditions such as acne, skin infections/warts, psoriasis, eczema, and skin cancers. He also treats chronic skin conditions with internal manifestations, such as lupus erythematosus, dermatomyositis, and sarcoidosis, among other complex or recalcitrant skin diseases. In addition, Dr. Hinds offers online diagnosis and treatment plans for some rashes and skin conditions. An associate professor of dermatology at UC San Diego School of Medicine, Dr. Hinds is director of the Dermatopathology Lab. Dr. Hinds completed a two-year dermatopathology fellowship at the University of California, San Francisco where he concurrently served as a clinical instructor in the Departments of Pathology and Dermatology. He completed his residency at the University of Louisville School of Medicine and interned at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. He earned his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine and is board certified in dermatology and dermatopathology. Beyond the clinic, Dr. Hinds has interests in medical education and teledermatology, as well as advocacy for patients and physicians alike. He has served in prominent leadership roles within national organizations, including the American Academy of Dermatology Board of Directors and the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Hinds is also actively involved in clinical research and serves as a reviewer for the Journal of Cutaneous Pathology.
