About Alexander Stein, MD

Alexander D. Stein, MD, FAAD, FASDS, FASMS is a Board Certified Dermatologist and Mohs surgeon. He is specializing in the management of skin cancer through complex skin cancer surgery and reconstructions. His expertise stems from a unique and extensive clinical experience as a Dermatologist, Skin Surgeon and Oncologist. Dr. Stein is also Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Oncology (Cancer Medicine). His broad and specialized training makes him an exceptional Mohs Surgeon and Clinician. Dr. Stein graduated with Honors in 1994, having more than 22 years of diverse experiences that range from Patient Clinical Practice, University Teaching, and Academic Research at top ranked US Universities. Dr. Stein is a Fellow of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American Society of Dermatological Surgery, and a member of the American Society of Mohs Surgery. Dr. Stein received his Doctor of Medicine in 1994 from the University of Medicine “Carol Davila” Bucharest, Romania – where he graduated top 1% of his class. He completed an Internal Medicine Residency at the New York Medical College in New York. He was given the honor of being the Chief Medical Resident during his last year of training. He subsequently completed his 3 years Medical Oncology and Hematology Fellowship in 2005 at New York Medical College, New York, US. Dr. Stein moved to Washington D.C. to function as an Assistant Professor of Medicine, Attending Physician, and Cutaneous Oncologist at Georgetown University from 2006 to 2008. Dr. Stein subsequently completed a prestigious Fellowship in Advanced Dermatological Therapies and Clinical Research in Dermatology at the University of California in San Diego, followed by a Residency in Dermatology at the University of California San Diego. He graduated in 2012 and continued to work as a Dermatologist, Skin Oncologist, and Skin Surgeon in Southern California. Dr. Stein is an author of many articles in top Dermatology and Oncology Journals, multiple presentations at International and US leading Conferences in the field of Dermatology and Skin Cancer, and a member in several Editorial Boards of top rated Journals in the areas of Dermatology and Cancer Medicine. He received several Awards of Excellence in Clinical Care and Clinical Research and his contribution to the fields of Dermatology and Skin Cancer was acknowledged.
