About Abhishek N. Aphale, MD
It is with great pleasure and excitement that Dr. Abhishek Aphale joins the team at Pennsylvania Centre for Dermatology. Dr. Aphale is a fellowship-trained Mohs surgeon and specializes in the surgical treatment for several types of skin cancer including basal cell carcinoma, squamous cell carcinoma, melanoma and others, including rare tumors. He is also passionate about and skillful in the reconstruction process after removal of the cancer; he uses evidence-based scientific principles and tailors them to meet the specific need of every individual patient. Dr. Aphale is a graduate of Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, New Jersey. He then completed his residency in dermatology at the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor, where he also completed a research fellowship in which he concentrated in the immunology of squamous cell carcinoma. After his residency he completed an ACGME-accredited and ACMS-approved fellowship in Mohs surgery and procedural dermatology. With several peer-reviewed scientific publications and a book chapter, Dr. Aphale has made significant contributions to the scientific community. And as a faculty member at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University he continues with his commitment to advancement in the field of skin cancer treatment. He is also an active member of the community. He takes part in numerous community events to raise awareness about skin cancer and provides guidance on prevention and treatment. He is also actively involved in the education of other health professionals; he has been invited as a guest speaker at many medical organizations, schools and colleges. He is the director of dermatologic surgery at Fox Chase Cancer Center and Temple University. Dr. Aphale is board-certified in Dermatology. He is an active member of the American Academy of Dermatology and the American College of Mohs Surgery.
