About the Procedure
There are a variety of minimally invasive treatments used to improve the appearance of the skin from facials to microdermabrasion, chemical peels to laser resurfacing. Radiofrequency energy has been used for decades to rejuvenate and tighten the skin. Heat created by radiofrequency waves causes the body to produce collagen and elastin, the main supportive proteins in the skin. Microneedling elicits a similar response from the body by creating tiny injuries within a treatment area that activate the wound healing cascade. This process also encourages collagen and elastin production. The Infini RF device combines these two processes for an effective skin rejuvenating treatment that smooths fine lines and produces younger looking skin over a series of treatments. Prior to treatment the skin will be cleansed and a topical anesthetic will be applied to numb the skin. Once the skin is anesthetized, the Infini RF device will be gently pressed against the skin, creating 40 tiny micro-injuries. The microneedles will simultaneously deliver radiofrequency energy into the deeper layers of the skin. The microneedling device will be stamped across the treatment area, customizing the depth of treatment for individualized results. Multiple treatments are typically necessary for desired results.
The goal of an Infini RF treatment is to tighten sagging skin by creating micro-injuries which encourage collagen and elastin production. Over time, the skin will appear fuller, tighter, and younger.
What to Expect
Microneedling with radiofrequency helps to stimulate the body's natural collagen and healing processes revealing firmer, rejuvenated skin. Here is a quick guide for what to expect before, during, and after microneedling with radiofrequency.
- Avoidance of Accutane for 6 months
- Discontinue use of Retin A and other topic medications for 3-5 days
- Avoid skin resurfacing and hair removal treatments for 5-7 days
- An antiviral medication may be prescribed
- Reschedule if a rash or blemish develops
- Skin will be cleansed
- Topical numbing cream applied
- Microneedling device is rolled over the area to be treated
- RF energy is delivered via the microneedling device
Following an Infini RF treatment the skin will be red and tender. There is no downtime associated with procedure, however, skin dryness and shedding is expected several days after treatment.
The ideal candidate for an Infini RF treatment has minor skin imperfections such as fine lines and wrinkles, skin laxity, scarring, and uneven skin tone and texture.
