About Thomas Spalten, DDS
The artist and the doctor of dentistry are very different endeavors yet each borrows attributes of the other. Science finds its way into the making of the artist’s creations and creativity has found its way into the modern practice of dentistry. “A lifelong interest in art has inspired the wedding of creativity into the practice of my chosen profession.” Graduating with honors in both Business and Pre-Med, he continued his education at the University of Texas Health Science System in the field of dentistry. While earning his DDS, Dr. Spalten pursued advanced residencies. He was a member of Alpha Omega Academic fraternity. Dr. Spalten began his practice in 1980 gradually expanding his skills in modern cosmetic dentistry as this field of dentistry emerged during the 1990’s. Dr. Spalten is very active in many charitable and civic organizations in the community and on occasion he has served on many of the boards of these organizations. Among his associations are: Alamo Kiwanis, Children’s Shelter, Sambo Muir Scholarship Fund, Southwest Foundation, The Texas Cavaliers, and others. Dr. Spalten has received advanced training in cosmetic procedures including invisalign, implant dentistry, veneers, and sedation dentistry. Dr. Spalten is a native of San Antonio and graduated from Alamo Heights High School. He chose Southern Methodist University for his undergraduate work.
