Dr. Roger E. Oppenheimer is thrilled to be a vital part of the community in Sherman CT. He has happily relocated to the beautiful town of Sherman Ct. after the sale of his vibrant practice in Merrick, NY. Dr. Oppenheimer brings an acclaimed career history of excellence in dentistry as well as a plethora of credentials achieved in the NY dental landscape for the last 30 years. His superior skills and usage of the latest in state of the art modern technology, demonstrate the outstanding results patients expect and deserve. He’s committed to keeping his extensive skills well honed through continuing education that has earned him Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. Our practice focuses on comprehensive general dentistry, with an emphasis on full-mouth restorations. We use state-of-the-art equipment such as lasers, digital x-rays, and sterilization, which help ensure that we can perform the latest, most modern dental techniques for a healthy mouth as well as to brighten and restore your smile. Dr. Oppenheimer and his friendly, well-trained staff strive to make patients feel like guests in his dental practice. Dr. Oppenheimer is uniquely qualified to provide you with outstanding dental care as a professional; he truly enjoys helping his patients achieve good oral health and a lifetime of beautiful smiles. Dr. Oppenheimer possesses a wealth of dental knowledge and expertise. A native of Manhattan, Dr. Oppenheimer earned his bachelors degree in Biology at New York University, and continued on there where he earned the Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in1975. Following graduation from NYU, Dr. Oppenheimer spent the next two years in a residency program at the U.S. Air Force Wilford Hall Medical Center in San Antonio, Texas. He then joined the U.S. Public Health Service providing dental care to underprivileged children and adults in South Texas. Dr. Oppenheimer has made continuing education a major commitment in his life. He has been an attending for 15 years at the Long Island Jewish Medical Center and the Parker Jewish Geriatric Institute, teaching advanced dentistry to their resident dentists. Dr. Oppenheimer is Board Certified in Special Care Dentistry, with an emphasis in geriatric dentistry, which specializes in the treatment of the elderly and medically compromised patient. Dr. Oppenheimer has been published in the Journal of the American Dental Association, and was the Editor in Chief of the Newsletter of the American Society for Geriatric Dentistry. The culmination of this commitment in his quest for continuing education is his achievement of Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry. This award has been achieved by less than 1% of all dentists. Dr. Oppenheimer is proud to announce that he has been awarded Fellowship in the American Collage of Dentists. Fellowship in the American College of Dentists is based upon annonymous nomination and election by peer dentists, and given to only 3% of all dentists in North America. Dr. Oppenheimer is a Nationally and State Certified Emergency Medical Technician and along with his wife Linda are proud members of the Sherman Volunteer Fire Department. Family life is paramount to Dr. Oppenheimer. He is married to Linda, and is the proud father of two great sons, Chad and Todd. When he’s not busy perfecting smiles or spending time with his family, Dr. Oppenheimer enjoys flying (in which he holds a commercial license with an instrument rating), is an amateur extra ham radio operator, wood working, repairing clocks and anything else mechanical. He's also a fantastic cook, and would love to share recipes with you!
