About Paul Schwedfeger, DDS
Dr. Paul Schwedfeger has been practicing Dentistry in Rochester since 1980. With a B.S. degree from SUNY Albany, Dr. Schwedfeger studied Biomedical Engineering at Catholic University and conducted research at the National Institutes of Health in Washington, D.C., before receiving his D.D.S. from the University Of Maryland School Of Dentistry, the Baltimore College of Dental Surgery. After completing his dental residency at Strong Memorial Hospital, he became a member of the University of Rochester’s dental teaching staff for three years. In 1988 Dr. Schwedfeger completed the rigorous requirements to be awarded a Fellowship in the Academy of General Dentistry (F.A.G.D.). This prestigious award is held by less than 10% of U.S. dentists. Dr. Schwedfeger has recently achieved the most prestigious educational award in the Academy, the Mastership in the Academy of General Dentistry (M.A.G.D.). This accolade is held by less than 1% of the dentists in the United States. In addition, Dr. Schwedfeger was also a part-time clinical instructor at the Eastman Dental Center, the University of Rochester. Cosmetic Dentistry has always been a special interest for Dr. Schwedfeger. He has completed numerous courses taught by the leading Cosmetic Dentists in the U.S. He recently attended the Rosenthal Institute at New York University College of Dentistry. Dr. Schwedfeger has been certified in “Advanced Esthetics” by Dr Larry Rosenthal, the ‘Dentist to the Stars’. Dr Paul has also completed extensive training in dental implants and Oral Sedation in order to better serve his patients’ needs. Dr. Schwedfeger is active in the American Academy of Cosmetic Dentistry, the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine, the Academy of General Dentistry, the American Dental Association, American Academy of Implant Dentistry, the New York State Dental Society and the Monroe County Dental Society. Outside of dentistry, his interests include biking, photography and building furniture in his elaborate woodshop. Dr. Schwedfeger, his wife and three children reside in Rochester.
