About Michael Gonzalez, DDS
Dr. Gonzalez earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Biology at Trinity University in San Antonio, TX. While studying as a graduate at U.T.S.A., he was recruited to teach middle school Science in the Harlandale Independent School District. He was accepted into Dental School at the University of Texas Houston Dental Branch, the following year. He graduated in 1979 to become a General Dentist. For 1 year after he worked as a Staff Dentist for the Texas Department of Corrections. Dr. Gonzalez has been practicing dentistry in the Cy-Fair, Jersey Village area in Houston, TX since 1980. Dr. Gonzalez attends continuing education courses as often as possible to stay abreast with the latest developments in dentistry. He has been a recipient of the “Americas Top Dentist” Award for the many years and in May of 2009, has been a Board Member of the Greater Houston Dental Society several years. He considers this position an honor as he is able to represent over 1600 member dentists. He has served on several Committees with the Society and was, previously, the Chairman of the Peer Review Committee, which mediates complaints between patients and dentists. Dr. Gonzalez, also, finds joy in “giving back” through programs that provide free dental care to those in need. Two such programs in which he has given his time and professional talent were with the Hurricane Katrina Volunteers at the Astrodome and with the TDA’s Smiles on Wheels project. Dr. Gonzalez and his wife, Jenny, have been married for over 40 years. After raising their 3 children in the Cy-Fair, Houston, TX area, Joe, Tommy, and Mandy have left the home for school, jobs and significant others. Three miniature dachshunds share the house and keep both, Dad and Mom, entertained and busy. Dr. Gonzalez enjoys competitive skeet shooting, hunting, fishing and guitar. Jenny and Dr. Gonzalez participate weekly with the Cy-Fair Jammers, a music group of dulcimers, guitars, banjo and mandolin.
