About Maria C. Hoekstra, DDS
Dr. Maria Hoekstra graduated summa cum laude in 1977 from Heidelberg College in Ohio with a Bachelor of Science degree and a double major in Biology and English literature. Her dental school education began at Case Western Reserve University School of Dentistry where she met her husband, Dr. William Hoekstra. After two years she transferred and graduated from Northwestern University School of Dentistry in Chicago, Illinois with a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree in 1981. While her husband completed his residency, Dr. Hoekstra practiced dentistry in downtown Chicago until moving to Holland, Michigan in 1982. Since that time, she has been in private practice in Holland, Michigan. Dr. Hoekstra is a Fellow in the Academy of General Dentistry and is the recipient of multiple awards during her educational and practice career. She is a current member of the American Dental Association, Michigan Dental Association, West Michigan Dental Association, Holland–Zeeland Dental Association, Chicago Dental Society, Academy of General Dentistry, Student Clinicians of the American Dental Association (Alumnus) and the American Association of University Women. She recently completed the Dawson Academy curriculum focusing on the concept of complete dentistry and total patient care. Continuing education and providing thoughtful, clinical excellence in dental care to all age groups is a primary focus for Dr. Hoekstra.
