About Ilya Lim, MD
Treating each patient as an individual is what Ilya Lim, MD, values enormously in his work as a dermatologist. “I tell my patients that we will work together, as a team, to treat their skin condition,” says Dr. Lim, who sees patients in Dermatology’s Middlebury location. Dr. Lim provides general medical dermatology as well as dermatologic surgical procedures to patients of all ages—from children to adults. In the course of a day, he may treat people with a wide variety of issues, which may include acne, psoriasis, eczema, or precancerous and cancerous skin lesions. He’s passionate about providing exceptional evidence-based care to every one of his patients. A significant part of his job as a dermatologist, though, is helping to identify skin cancer before it reaches a dangerous stage. Since skin cancer is one of the most common cancers in the United States, Dr. Lim encourages his patients to discuss any and all worrisome skin changes with him. If needed, following evaluation, he sends a biopsy to the third member of the patient-doctor team, skin pathologists (called dermatopathologists), for review. If skin cancer is identified, Dr. Lim is an expert in surgically removing it with the appropriate margin and then stitching the skin back together to provide the best cosmetic result. “I strive to provide the highest quality, evidence-based dermatologic care to my patients,” says Dr. Lim. “I always take into account their particular concerns and situation so that we can work together towards a healthy solution to their skin problems.”
