About Harold J. Gulbransen, DDS
Dr. Gulbransen grew up in Huntington Station, NY and attended Cornell University for his undergraduate degree in mathematics and biology. He received his dental degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Dentistry, where he was selected to the national dental honorary society, Omicron Kappa Upsilon. After completing a one year dental General Practice Residency at the La Jolla Veteran’s Administration Hospital, Dr. Gulbransen went to Los Angeles where he completed a two-year prosthodontic residency at the Wadsworth VA Hospital. During this residency in advanced restorative dentistry, he was selected to be the Chief Resident. Dr. Gulbransen spent an additional year of training in Maxillofacial Prosthetics at the UCLA Medical Center. This is where he learned to rehabilitate patients with oral and facial defects caused by cancer or trauma. He has enjoyed practicing as a specialist in restorative dentistry in La Mesa since 1984. He has lectured extensively both nationally and internationally on the subject of dental implants and the management of medically compromised patients. As an active member of several professional organizations, including the American College of Prosthodontists, the American Academy of Maxillofacial Prosthetics, the Academy of Osseointegration and the American Dental Association, Dr. Gulbransen stays abreast of the latest techniques and technologies in the dynamic field of prosthodontics. He has been chosen by his peers as a Top Dentist in San Diego every year since 2007. Dr. Gulbransen has three grown daughters and resides with his wife in San Diego. When he has spare time, he enjoys woodworking, traveling, and cooking.
