About Edward G. Sarkisian, DDS
Dr. Sarkisian is a graduate of the University of Michigan with a Bachelor of Science degree in Medical Technology. As an undergraduate student at Michigan he worked in dental research at the University of Michigan Dental School under Dr. Walter Loesche. He went on to earn a Doctor of Dental Surgery degree from the University of Detroit School of Dentistry. Entering private practice in Dearborn, Dr. Sarkisian also became a member of the Active Staff of Harper Grace Hospital in the Detroit Medical Center where he served for eight years as a Clinical Instructor in the ENT department of the Wayne State University Medical School. He worked in the Harper Hospital Dental Department under his mentor (and future partner in practice) Dr. Aris Hoplamazian, who among his many distinguished accomplishments was the Chief of Dentistry in the Medical Center as well as President of the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry for several years. Since graduation Dr. Sarkisian has always been active in the dental profession. He has served on committees with the Detroit District Dental Society including Peer Review / Ethics (Chairman 6 years), Michigan Dental Association Committee on Peer Review/ Ethics (2015 - current), Strategic Planning and as a Delegate to the Michigan Dental Association Annual meeting. Dr. Sarkisian regularly takes many hours of continuing education classes to stay abreast of the latest advances in dentistry. He has been a member for many years (serving two terms as President) of the Detroit Dental Clinics Club - one of the oldest (established in 1914) and most respected dental study clubs in the United States. He remains on their Board of Governors as the Editor of the Clinic Club Newsletter. His practice reflects a special interest in comprehensive restorative dental care with an emphasis on preventive dentistry, cosmetics and implants. Dr. Sarkisian has also received additional training in dental sleep appliances to treat sleep apnea and is a member of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. In 1996 Dr. Sarkisian was honored with Fellowships in both the American College of Dentists and the Pierre Fauchard Academy. In 2009, Dr. Sarkisian was nominated by the State of Michigan Board of Dentistry and appointed by the North East Regional Board of Dental Examiners (now named Commission on Dental Competancy Assessment CDCA) to serve as a Consultant Dental Examiner. This group's function is to administer the practical licensing examination for dentists and hygienists in twenty two states. Showing an ongoing commitment to his community, Dr. Sarkisian has worked with Donated Dental Services, the Boy Scouts (local Scout Troop 755 Eagle Scout Advisor and Medical Staff for the 2001 National Jamboree), local public school planning committees, the Bay Cliff Health Camp for handicapped children, St. Nerses Seminary Board, University of Michigan Alumni Association Club of Northville (President 2005-6) and with his church council. Dr. Sarkisian and his wife Anna (a former high school teacher) have two wonderful grown children - both graduates of the University of Michigan. Their daughter is a licensed architect and their son is a PhD graduate student at Northwestern University.
