About E Mauricio Castellanos, DDS
Dr. Mauricio Castellanos has a restorative general dentistry practice specializing in general dentistry, digital dentistry, implantology and aesthetic dentistry. He has completed two residency programs, one fellowship, and has over 15 years of experience in the dental field as a clinician and faculty. Dr. Castellanos is passionate about replicating the natural beauty and structure of teeth in every procedure he performs for patients. He enjoys establishing long lasting relationships and knowing that he is able to help patients with their teeth, returning them a beautiful smile and ideal function. Dr. Castellanos completed a General Practice Residency (GPR) program at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Chapel Hill. During the GPR, he was selected to serve as the chief resident. Dr. Castellanos rotated through the VA hospital, UNC Hospital, operating room and the Anesthesiology Department at UNC. After the GPR, He finished an Implant Fellowship at the Triangle Implant Center in North Carolina, which is an institution affiliated with Duke University. In 2008, Dr. Castellanos received an Adjunct Faculty appointment at UNC-Chapel Hill. In this appointment, he taught students in two departments including the Department of Prosthodontics. He also taught third and fourth year dental students at UNC School of Dentistry. After almost 11 years of experience, Dr. Castellanos moved to Gainesville to complete his Master's Degree in Prosthodontics at UFCD. He served as the surgical chief resident in his third year. As a resident, he was the first dentist at UF to work with the E4D technologies. He was one of the pioneers of computer-guided surgery with the prosthodontic department at UF and the first resident to place angled implants with a CBCT guide. In the third year of the master's program, he won first place for best research at UFCD and was honored with the Spring Synergy award for this accomplishment. As soon as Dr. Castellanos completed his graduate prosthodontics program, he was offered a full-time clinical assistant professor position, which he graciously accepted in May 2015. As a UFCD faculty member, he lectures for various study clubs around the state. He is the director of the Advanced Occlusion course in the graduate prosthodontics program, and teaches CAD/CAM technology to residents and DMD students. Dr. Castellanos lectures in different study clubs around the state and gave a lecture about digital technology including his research at the Annual Florida Prosthodontic Association Meeting in 2015. He was also invited to present in two National Dental Congress in South America in 2017.
