About David J. Fox, DMD
Dr. David J. Fox received his B.A. degree in 1976 from Clark University, in Massachusetts and a D.M.D. degree from the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine in 1980. After a year of advanced training in hospital dentistry and general practice as a resident at Illinois Masonic Medical Center and the University of Illinois College of Medicine in Chicago, he returned to the University of Pennsylvania for completion of combined specialty training in Periodontics in 1983 and Periodontal Prosthesis - Fixed Prosthodontics in 1984. Dr. Fox is licensed in Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York and Illinois. He holds an anesthesia permit to administer nitrous oxide/oxygen analgesia and intravenous conscious-sedation in Pennsylvania, and a certificate in advanced cardiac life support. In addition to his formal training, he has taken over 2,800 hours of continuing education courses, is a Fellow of the Academy of General Dentistry, and has published professionally. Dr. Fox was active in dental education for over twenty years at the University of Pennsylvania's School of Dental Medicine, Albert Einstein Medical Center, and Temple University's School of Dentistry. He has instructed dental students, trained dentists to become specialists in Periodontics and Prosthodontics, and has presented over 320 hours of continuing education courses for dentists around the country. Dr. Fox has served as a consultant (to the Pennsylvania State Board of Dentistry, insurance companies, professional organizations, dentists, attorneys, industry, and the general public) and belongs to many professional organizations including the American Academy of Periodontology, Pennsylvania Association of Periodontists, American Academy of Fixed Prosthodontics, Academy of Osseointegration (surgical and prosthodontic sections), Academy of General Dentistry, American Dental Association and the Pennsylvania Dental Association. While away from his clinical practice his time is largely occupied with family, exercise, community service, volunteer work for professional organizations, reading, viola playing, chamber music, orchid tending, culinary arts, and photography.
