About Carly Scharfenberg, DDS
Dr. Carly Scharfenberg joined her father, Dr. Jerry, after graduating from the University of Illinois at Chicago College of Dentistry. She was born and raised in Elmhurst, and she now enjoys serving her hometown community with premier dental care. Dr. Carly is devoted to providing innovative dentistry to the entire family. Dr. Carly began her studies at the University of Iowa, majoring in nursing. She then completed a degree in Biological Sciences, with a pre-dental specialty, from the University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC). She completed her degree in Dental Laboratory Science and was board certified. Upon graduating from UIC College of Dentistry she was admitted into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (OKU), the National Dental Honor Society. Dr. Carly also serves as an instructor at the UIC Dental School in the pre-clinic. Dr. Carly served on UIC’s executive board for the American Association of Public Health Dentistry. In this capacity she was instrumental in creating Goldie’s Place Dental Clinic, the first student-run dental health clinic in the United States. Goldie’s Place serves the underprivileged population of Chicago, and continues to be a model for other communities. Dr. Carly is committed to bettering lives by providing exceptional dental care. In her free time Carly enjoys spending time with her family—her husband Ryan, son Alex, and daughter Avery. Together they enjoy playing soccer, hiking, and biking. Dr. Carly is also an avid runner and scuba diver.
