About Avra M. Louis, DDS
Dr. Louis majored in Biochemistry at Hofstra University and was further educated at New York University College of Dentistry, where she received the Dean’s Merit Full-Tuition Scholarship (1988-1992). Her honors at NYU included Dean’s List (1988-1991), the Bernard E. Rudner Memorial Award in Comprehensive Care (1992) and induction into Omicron Kappa Upsilon (the National Dental Honor Society) in 1992. Upon graduation (1992), her class rank was 3 of more than 300 students placing her in the top 1% of graduating students. After graduation, Dr. Louis established a busy metropolitan General Dentistry-Prosthodontics practice, where she operated for more than 20 years. Among her other activities, she has served on the clinical faculty at Yale New Haven Hospital and participated in the design and monitoring of a Phase II Clinical trial on Hyaluronic Acid. She has been a member of numerous professional dental organizations and societies, including the American Dental Association, the Academy of General Dentistry, and the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine. Her interest in oral care and measures to improve upon oral health are common threads that guide her activities.
