About Angel S. Puryear, MD
Angel Puryear, M.D. is a board certified dermatologist and native Houstonian. She graduated from Bellaire High School and Rice University with a Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering. Dr. Puryear then attended Texas Tech University School of Medicine where she was elected to the prestigious Alpha Omega Alpha medical honor society in her junior year. She subsequently completed an internship in Internal Medicine and residency in Dermatology at Texas Tech University and served as Chief Resident during her third year. After residency, Dr. Puryear worked in private practice in north Dallas where she was voted by her peers into D Magazine as a Best Doctor in Collin County for 2016 and 2017. Dr. Puryear welcomes patients of all ages. Having suffered from severe eczema as a child, she understands the psychological impact skin conditions can cause and makes sure each patient receives ample time and support. She believes patient education is key to success. Dr. Puryear trained in west Texas where advanced skin cancer is rampant, and she takes a special interest preventive skin cancer checks and treatment. Dr. Puryear enjoys providing cosmetic treatments such as botulinum toxin and dermal fillers to help patients achieve the best version of themselves. She is fluent in Mandarin Chinese. Dr. Puryear keeps her training and knowledge fresh through active membership in the American Academy of Dermatology, American Society for Dermatologic Surgery, Texas Dermatological Society, and the Texas Medical Association. Her work has been published in the Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology and the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology. Dr. Puryear has a passion for teaching and is an attending physician in Dermatology for the Memorial Family Medicine Residency Program in Sugarland, TX. During her free time, she enjoys reading, jogging, and spending time with her husband and two adorable daughters. Dr. Puryear is thrilled to be back home in Houston to serve her community.
